The Pleasant Lake Patriots have been busy learning and growing this year. We finished November and December 2021 with some very special events such as a community Veteran’s Day program, a trip to the Fort Wayne Ballet, and a whole school field trip to a gingerbread display in Fort Wayne. The students used these authentic experiences to expand their knowledge. Second semester authentic learning will include STEAM activities, and an all school field trip to Camp Chief Little Turtle, and the ever popular “water day” celebration.

This winter we had a reading challenge headed up by our Title teacher Mrs. Kelly Falls. If students read and met their goal, they were eligible for a free ticket to a Trine Hockey game which took place on February 5, 2022. The challenge kicked off on December 16, 2021 with a visit from several Trine University student athletes. These amazing role models talked with students about the importance of reading and studying.

The focus this year has been on growing to grade level proficiency and beyond. Our students and staff have focused and reflected on academics by using data folders and reflection on data results. At mid year we have over 50% of our students reaching proficiency in both Reading and Math as measured by NWEA. This is an exciting year for our school and when we reach the 70% range we will be hosting a community celebration. Stay tuned for our growing success....
